hey, well I really like them. But I'm not so sure of the portraits. I think your interpretation of photographers like W. Eugene Smith (and other documentary photographers that I can't think of) is striking, but the inclusion of of human faces (bar a couple) breaks the flow of the images. I really like the fast film (or is it low quality dig?) is a great response to present art. I like the way it's similar but completely different to everything in the TATE Modern Nice one xx
You'd think w/ google running blogger they could get it working better (so I'm sorry if you get basically the same comment from me twice, nmf). Anyway. I like what you've done. I just got a cell phone w/ a camera (yesterday actually) and am likewise intrigued by the possibilities...
I really like the 1st picture. I had no idea what it was at first -- it looked a lot like a coral reef or something under the sea... but now its obvious.. of course not many others would know what it is, but it doesnt matter.. it's a nice picture with good colors and composition... but i dont know about lofi tho -- i constantly want to click the images to make them bigger, and when they get bigger they all look compressed and that pisses me off... as long as they stay small the images look nice.. keep up the artistry.
wow! i really like the closeups of odd everyday things and the colored lights. i love all kinds of cameras. i don't have a digital or phone one though. i have some old polaroids and a barbie camera and oatmeal boxes etc. well i mostly use my minolta with a wide angle lens, but i am now inspired to do some closeup rather than whole room and vista pictures. i like the way technology and process influence image, and let things come out how they want -- ha, why fight it? xx wendy
ps i have some alt. photo stuff at http://www.astro.wisc.edu/~mukluk/oat.html
Ives. why are you using your sidekick instead of your Canon Rebel? Well anyway me in my plaid and yellow mini go and look again my gut is busting out and im gonna have to resize those pics again! :DD fucking bummer. your work is original and fitting. SORRY TO EVERYONE WHO IS LOOKING FOR EXACTLY THE SAME "ARTSY BULLSHIT" BUT THIS IS HISSSS ART AND HE HAS A MOLD TO BREAK. keep up the Classics. :DDD Jay Hilliard
This is really fresh stuff man... you're a man of my own passion. Whats crazy is I've been doing the same kinda thing with my phone except its video, shooting all kinds of stuff that I'm editing into my hip hop video series... can't wait to complete it now, you're stuff looks great!
this page exists for fans of my music to take a look at places i go and people i see. it's also to up-stage all these "photographers" that think they are hot shit because they have nice cameras and fancy equipment. i can do more with the built-in camera on my phone than most of these people can do with their $5,000 cameras. most people also don't know anything about composition, which as a filmmaker, saddens me. anyway. i have a strong fascination with lofi lo-res pictures taken with shitty digital cameras, when it's done right (i.e. the way i do it). there is something about the grain and noise patterns in my 1.3 megapixel camera that remind me of 8mm film, there is room to get lost in the moment. when i take these photos and put them on here, i feel like i am in a separate world - and i hope you can join me here in this odd, odd place.
